Exact de Rham Sequences of Spaces Defined on Macro-Elements in Two and Three Spatial Dimensions

چکیده
This paper proposes new finite element spaces that can be constructed for agglomerates of standard elements that have certain regular structure. The main requirement is that the agglomerates share faces that have closed boundaries composed of 1-d edges. The spaces resulting from the agglomerated elements are subspaces of the original de Rham sequence of H-conforming, H(curl) conforming, H(div) conforming and piecewise constant spaces associated with an unstructured “fine” mesh. The procedure can be recursively applied so that a sequence of nested de Rham complexes can be constructed. As an illustration we generate coarser spaces from the sequence corresponding to the lowest order Nédélec spaces, lowest order Raviart–Thomas spaces, and for piecewise linear H-conforming spaces, all in three-dimensions. The resulting V -cycle multigrid methods used in preconditioned conjugate gradient iterations appear to perform similar to those of the geometrically refined case.

The de Rham-Federer Theory of Differential Characters and Character Duality
In the first part of this paper the theory of differential characters is developed completely from a de Rham Federer viewpoint. Characters are defined as equivalence classes of special currents, called sparks, which appear naturally in the theory of singular connections. As in de Rham Federer cohomology, there are many different spaces of currents which yield the character groups. The fundament...
متن کاملFinite element differential forms on cubical meshes
We develop a family of finite element spaces of differential forms defined on cubical meshes in any number of dimensions. The family contains elements of all polynomial degrees and all form degrees. In two dimensions, these include the serendipity finite elements and the rectangular BDM elements. In three dimensions they include a recent generalization of the serendipity spaces, and new H(curl)...
متن کاملNatural elements spatial configuration and content usage in urban park
Abstract Urban parks are important public multifunctional space used for a wide range of activities. The usage levels of parks depend on the spatial characteristics of the spaces, where its forms and occupancies are referred as the usage-spatial relationship. Natural elements spatial complexity and park usability is of interest in this study. A photo - questionnaire was conducted among 296 of p...
متن کاملFormal-comparative analysis of the spatial organization of student residence halls based on their spatial threshold patterns
Functional quality of the student residence halls has a great deal of importance due to their collective nature and the fact that they are considered as housing units, identifying and defining the role of intermediary spaces on the spatial organization and and spatial consociation of student residence halls which is a compound system of masses and spatial borderlines can bring order to its syst...
متن کاملOn difference sequence spaces defined by Orlicz functions without convexity
In this paper, we first define spaces of single difference sequences defined by a sequence of Orlicz functions without convexity and investigate their properties. Then we extend this idea to spaces of double sequences and present a new matrix theoretic approach construction of such double sequence spaces.
